The Punjabi film industry is in shock after the sudden death of Jaswinder Bhalla, one of the most loved Punjabi comedy actors. He passed away on August 22, 2025, at the age of 65, after suffering a brain stroke in Mohali.
A Life Full of Laughter
Jaswinder Bhalla started his career as a professor, but comedy was always his passion. He became famous with the comedy series Chhankata and later acted in many hit Punjabi movies like Carry On Jatta, Jatt & Juliet, and Mr & Mrs 420. His role as Advocate Dhillon in Carry On Jatta is remembered as one of the funniest performances in Punjabi cinema.
Doctors tried their best to save him, but he could not recover. His cremation took place on August 23, 2025, in Mohali. Fans and fellow actors gathered to say their final goodbyes.
Many Punjabi and Bollywood stars, including Gippy Grewal, Neeru Bajwa, and Akshay Kumar, shared emotional messages remembering him. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also paid tribute, saying Bhalla’s famous character “Chacha Chatra” will always live in people’s hearts.
More Than a Comedian
Apart from acting, Jaswinder Bhalla was also a professor of agriculture at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, until 2020. He balanced teaching and acting, earning respect in both fields.
